Hello United Kingdom!

So we have arrived in London on the 1st May, to sunny London may I add. It’s not hard to fall in love with a place that has had beautiful sunshine for our first week. The flight was awful so it gets no more attention or airtime than just a simple mention. It got us here.

The incredibly long group email is a thing of the past and thus we will be using this blog as the main way for us to share our travels and journey’s whilst over here in the Motherland. Sometimes it will be me writing and sometimes Lauren. We will keep the posts flowing…

So after the flight from hell we were greeted at Heathrow Airport by the never aging Iain McKern (Buncle Lemon). So so great to see a familiar face when arriving to a foreign land! We jumped in the car and our weary bodies slumped into the seats as we drove back to the town that the Mckern’s call home, St Albans.

After a little unpacking and with the fear looming of falling asleep at midday, Iain took us into town to catch a glimpse of what St Albans has to offer. First stop was the St Alban’s Abbey. All I can say is that the British know how to build an impressive piece of artitecture. This Abbey goes back in history longer than Australia’s entire western History records! I still love you Australia, but that is impressive.

Another observation that has been made of the British is that they love their pubs. Only 500 meters from the Abbey is “Ye Old Fighting Cocks” and Iain introduced us to our first Pint of English beer. Not to bad… The pub did claim that it was the oldest in all of the UK. I will be taking tabs on how many pubs I see with that crafty lure used to hook in the gullible tourist.

Without going into detail of all the happenings it must be said that we are loving staying with Iain and Donna and the kids (Bec, Ads and Caitlyn) and our experience of London so far has been one out of a fairytale. Visiting the blue bells, walking the streets, visiting the Abbey, getting over jet-lag (not such a fairytale), falling asleep in the sun, catching up on stories with family over dinners, planning out our visit to the centre of London..

All very exciting and much more to come.

To all that happen to read this blog do feel free to post your Skype name in the comment section below… Or if you are an iPhone user you can download ‘Viber’ and we can talk for free or ‘What’s App’ and we can text for free. Our new UK numbers are:

Joel: +447749133103                Lauren: +447749133110

Unfortunately we can’t text from our UK mobile to your Aus one but we can receive your texts. What’s App is the way to go for that…

Enjoy the first run of photos and we will add more as we explore this new country to us.

Big Love from London,

Joel & Loz.
